7a. What Was Planned?

To simulate an incident requiring emergency backup communications. Test and evaluate the use of the MICU setup at a remote location without being dependent on normal infrastructure support, with the exception of local repeaters and operation as a central collection point for information gathering. The exercise will also test the coordination and handling of traffic between multiple agencies. The operation will test all components of an actual mobilization including team member notification, activation, transfer of specific information, and demobilization.

7b. What Actually Happened?

16 COARECT Team members responded to the 'Drill' Pushover notice and 8 HiDarg members responded to the exercise.
The Drill started on time (14:00) and terminated at 14:45. All radio communications were very clear and both Walker Mtn. and Mt. Bachalor repeaters function properly. VHF radios in the MICU had to be separated due to frequency conflicts. One station was move to a non-MICU site approximately 100 feet from the MICU. All radios function properly.

7c. Why Did It Happen?

Net controllers were very clear and professional. All data was recorded, converted to a CSV formatted file and transmitted via VARA FM / Winlink to a COARECT Base Station in La Pine at approximately 15:00hrs.

7d. What Are We Going To Do Next Time?

Radios with better front in filters need to be used if frequencies are close together. Test multiple radios at the same time to check for modulation problems. Keep outside the MICU noise own during radio operations. Make sure the exact information is noted by radio operators. Some responded with extra info. Add more defined Net Control statements at the beginning and the end of the drill.
